Tea bowls, or chawan- when used in Japanese Chanoyu tea ceremony, are meant to hold whisked green tea called matcha. After whisking the green tea powder with hot water, drink matcha directly from the bowl.
This chawan is made of Ironstone black clay and glazed a glossy black only on the interior to allow the hand-applied texture and rich character of the clay body to show off the exterior surface.
Thrown on the wheel and fired to vitrification in an oxidized atmosphere. Dishwasher safe but hand washing is recommended.
10cm x 6.5cm All pieces are handmade in Chicago IL by Dani Fogarty.
