Charcoal shiboridashi

$150.00
Shiboridashi are small tea pots made to brew premium gyokuro tea from Japan. The shallow form allows the tightly rolled tea leaves to unfurl and steep evenly. This shibo is unglazed and semi-porous; when used to brew the same kind of tea time after time, the clay will develop a patina similar to a seasoned sauce-pan. Therefore it should be handled with care and only washed with warm water or mild detergent by hand.

Thrown on the wheel and fired to ~2232°F/1220°C in an oxidized kiln.

Holds ~80ml of liquid.

All pieces are handmade in Chicago IL by Dani Fogarty.
